I booked a 'cheap' hotel in Prague that ended up costing me way more than the nice one

I was so focused on the nightly rate, I didn't check the location properly. The place was a 45-minute tram ride from the city center, and I spent over 60 euros on transit passes and taxis over four days just to get anywhere. I could have paid 20 euros more per night for a central spot and saved money and hours. Anyone else get tricked by a low price that hid extra costs?

Wait, 60 euros just to get around?

Yeah, that part about the 60 euros on transit really hits home. I used to always go for the cheapest room too, but I had the same thing happen in Berlin. I mean, like @claireg81 said, that transit money adds up so fast. After a trip where I spent a fortune on ubers, I finally got it. The low price tag is a trap if you're gonna waste time and cash just getting to where you want to be. Now I check a map first every single time.
