A small win from my kitchen in Cincinnati last week
After three tries, I finally made a full pot of chili that fed my family for two nights straight using only a single pound of ground beef and a bunch of dried beans from my pantry, which felt like a huge victory for my grocery budget.

Oh nice! I read somewhere that beans are a total game changer for stretching meat in recipes. That's awesome it worked out for two nights.

Beans are my secret weapon (when I don't burn them).

It's funny how those small kitchen wins add up. My neighbor started making her own bread and it cut her weekly shopping by a whole bag. My own trick is adding lentils to taco meat, it doubles the filling for pennies. There's a quiet pride in making things last that way.
