Hot take: the library is better than buying used books

I saw this guy at the thrift store last week bragging about saving $10 on a stack of novels, but he was buying ones I'd already read for free from the local branch on Main Street. Why pay even a buck when you can just borrow and return with no clutter?

And you don't have to lug the books around to sell them back later or store them on shelves you're probably already running out of room for (guilty as charged). Honestly, the zero clutter and always having something new to read without any dusting is the real win.

Oh man, the clutter thing is huge. I actually started decluttering my apartment last year and the library card was a lifesaver for that. I used to have stacks of books I read once and never touched again, just taking up space on my nightstand and collecting dust. Now I just check out the latest thriller or romance novel, read it in a week, and drop it right back in the return slot without even thinking about it. Plus I don't have to feel guilty about owning something I'm never gonna reread.
