Hit 500 hand-bound books this month and had to stop and check my math

I was cleaning up after finishing a batch of journals and added up my records for the year. Turns out I crossed the 500 mark somewhere in the past two weeks without even noticing. That number surprised me because I started this as a side thing in my garage. If you're keeping count, do you actually track how many books you've done or do you just lose track like I did?

Started keeping a rough tally in a notebook on my workbench after I messed up a big order three years back. Turns out I was way off on what I thought I'd made and had to eat the loss on some custom journals. Now I just jot down the date and how many I finish at the end of each day, takes maybe thirty seconds. Helps me stay honest about my materials too, since I know roughly how much paper and thread I'm going through. You lose track real easy once you get into a rhythm, especially if you're doing it as a side gig and not a full time thing. Let the numbers pile up or don't, it's your hobby at the end of the day.

My notebook from three years ago has a whole section where I wrote down "probably like 50" for a month and it turned out I actually did like 12, @jamies45. I feel that pain so hard. Now I use a little whiteboard by my cutting mat cause I kept losing the actual notebook. Honestly the numbers help more than I expected, especially when I'm trying to convince myself I don't need to buy more thread this month. But yeah, if you're just doing it for fun, who cares, right?
