Was skeptical of slow burn shows until The Leftovers proved me wrong
I always thought slow paced shows were just boring padding with no payoff. My buddy kept telling me to watch The Leftovers and I ignored him for like two years. Finally gave it a shot during a slow week and by episode 4 of season 1 I was completely hooked. The way it builds character tension over multiple episodes is something I never appreciated before. Anyone else have a show that flipped your opinion on a whole genre?

My buddy swore by Justified for years before I finally binged it.

Your buddy must have some serious free time if he's been pushing Justified that hard. It's a fine show, sure, but people act like it's the second coming of The Wire or something. Timothy Olyphant does his thing with the hat and the drawl, but the whole "wild west in Kentucky" angle gets old by season three. I watched a few episodes and thought "ok, cool, another cop show with a gimmick". Glad you liked it, but I wouldn't call it life changing television.
