My friend said my binge plan for 'The Expanse' was all wrong

I was about to start 'The Expanse' and my plan was to just power through as many episodes as I could in a weekend. My friend, who's a huge fan, told me I was setting myself up to fail. He said, 'You're going to burn out and the plot details will blur together. It's a dense show.' So I changed my approach. I limited myself to two episodes a night, max, and I actually read the episode summaries online after each one. It made a HUGE difference. I caught way more of the political stuff and the character motivations, and I enjoyed it so much more instead of just feeling exhausted. Now I do this for any show with a complicated story. Does anyone else have a specific rule they follow to make a binge actually enjoyable and not just a blur?

Honestly, that's a smart way to do it. I tried to mainline a whole season of a complicated show once and by the end I couldn't even remember the main guy's name. It just became noise. Your two-episode rule is way better. I've started doing something similar where I have to get up and walk around between episodes, no matter how good the cliffhanger is. It forces a reset so the next one feels fresh. What was the hardest show for you to pace yourself with?

Totally get what you mean. I tried to watch all of Dark in one go and my brain just broke. Had to start over. @lewis.charlie is onto something with the forced breaks, for sure. I started keeping a little notepad for character names and family trees for shows like that.
