Paid $40 for a box of random books at a library sale, ended up finding a signed first edition worth $200

I went to the annual library sale in my town last Saturday. They had those mystery boxes where you pay $40 and get a whole banker's box of books. I grabbed one and when I got home I was sorting through it and found a signed copy of a popular mystery novel from 1995. Looked it up online and it goes for around $200 on eBay. Anyone else ever get lucky with those blind boxes at library sales?

Those blind boxes are usually just someone's way of clearing out moldy textbooks and diet books from the 90s.

Oh that's a great story, bringing home a signed first edition for forty bucks is a real score. I had a similar thing happen about two years ago at a library sale in the next town over. They had these plain brown paper bags for five dollars each, said they were "picked at random" by the volunteers. I grabbed two bags and inside one of them was a hardcover copy of a Stephen King novel from the 1980s, looked to be in pretty good shape. I checked online later and found out it was a first printing that goes for around a hundred and fifty dollars. I kept it because I like King and its a nice piece to have on the shelf. Its funny how those blind boxes can work out, sometimes you just get a pile of old textbooks but then you hit something like that.
