My tomato plants looked sad for weeks until I saw a neighbor's setup.

I had my pots on the shady side of my west-facing balcony in Portland. The leaves were yellow and nothing grew. My neighbor across the way had huge, green plants. I asked her about it yesterday. She pointed out her pots get full sun from noon on. Has anyone moved their whole garden mid-season with good results?

Oh wow, that's the whole game right there. Honestly, everyone talks about sun but forgets the heat that comes with it. Moving them now is a shock, but tomatoes are tough. Tbh, I'd do it but put up a little shade cloth for a few afternoons to stop the leaves from burning. They'll look rough for a week, then take off like crazy.

Shade cloth is basically tomato sunscreen, but for plants that are already mad at you for moving their house. They'll throw a fit for a few days, drooping like they've given up on life. Then they get over it and grow like they're trying to win a contest. It's the drama of gardening in a nutshell.
