I finally gave up on my old stand mixer after 8 years

I was stuck between getting it fixed for about $150 or just buying a new one, and I went with the repair. It came back working, but the motor sounds rough on the second speed now. Anyone have a good mechanic in Phoenix they trust?

I mean, did you ask the repair shop about the new noise before you took it home? That seems like something they should have checked. Maybe they'd take another look for free since it just came out of the shop.

Wait, hold on, you think that grinding noise is just "old grease settling back in"? That sounds insane to me lol. I've had a KitchenAid for like 8 years and never heard anything like that after a repair. If it's making a rough sound right after you paid 150 bucks, I'd be freaking out. That's not normal at all, that's a red flag the shop missed something or messed something up. I wouldn't risk running thick dough through it either, that could make it worse if something is actually loose or misaligned. Honestly I'd be calling that shop back and asking them to fix it for free before I even touched another batch of cookies.

That rough sound on speed two might just be the old grease settling back in after the repair. My aunt's KitchenAid made a weird grinding noise for a week after a service, then it smoothed right out. Running it through a thick dough a couple times could work it in. Spending $150 means you probably want to give it a real chance before hunting down another mechanic.
