Just read that chickens can see more colors than we can

I was looking at a book from the library called 'The Chicken Encyclopedia' and it said they have four types of color cones in their eyes, not three like us. They can see ultraviolet light, which is why they might peck at certain things we don't even notice. Has anyone else seen their birds act strange around something that looked plain to you?

Huh, that explains a lot. My neighbor's chickens always lose their minds over a particular patch of dirt in my yard. Looks totally normal to me, but they scratch at it like they've found gold. Guess they're seeing a whole secret rave down there.

It's a neat fact but let's not get carried away. They're still just chickens pecking at the ground. Seeing extra colors doesn't make them geniuses, it just means they find bugs a little easier. People act like this changes everything, but my birds still run into the fence sometimes. It's cool, but it's not that deep.
