Got called out for my old coop cleaning schedule and it stung, but they were right
A few years back, another keeper at a local feed store in Spokane flat out told me my weekly deep clean was stressing my birds more than it helped. He said, 'You're in there with a shovel and a hose every Sunday like clockwork, they never get to settle.' I switched to just spot cleaning droppings daily and doing a full strip-down clean only once a month. The difference was huge. My hens started laying more consistently within about three weeks. Has anyone else found that less frequent major cleanups actually improved their flock's mood?

Sounds like a lesson for parenting too.

Totally agree, it's a game changer. I used to scrub my coop every weekend too and my birds were always on edge. Now I just do a big clean every five or six weeks and they're way more relaxed. @simonw41 has a point, it really is about letting things settle.
