I put a shallow dish of water on my patio table last week and the sparrows went crazy for it.

I figured they'd just drink from it, but they started taking full baths, splashing around for almost an hour every morning. It made me realize they might not have a good spot to clean up nearby. Do you have a favorite simple water feature that the birds in your yard actually use?

My neighbor just uses a cheap terracotta saucer under a plant pot. It's maybe two inches deep and the robins line up for it. It's crazy how something so basic becomes the busiest spot in the yard.

That "busiest spot in the yard" thing is so true. My friend had a cracked mixing bowl she left out, and within a week it was like a tiny airport for sparrows. They'd splash around and then sit on the rim to dry off, it was the cutest thing.
