Just got back from the Eagle Cap Wilderness and the trail damage is no joke

Hiked the Lakes Basin loop last week and the washout near Mirror Lake added like 3 extra miles of sketchy scrambling. The main trail is just gone for a good quarter mile. Has anyone else been up there recently and found a better way around?

Tried that scramble last month and my knees are still sending me angry letters. We ended up bushwhacking up the slope to the east, which was only slightly less terrifying than the river rock slide. Pretty sure my route added more like four extra miles of pure regret. I’d just plan for the extra time and bring a good map, because all the options up there right now are just varying degrees of bad.

Sounds like my own knees would file a formal complaint just hearing about that. That whole area is basically a choose-your-own-adventure of pain right now.
