Always thought the old Fluke 87 was fine for everything, but a stubborn intermittent on a G1000 bus had me second-guessing.

Had to pick between buying a fancy scope or just trusting my meter. Bought a Rigol DS1054Z last month and found the glitch in twenty minutes. Anyone have a go-to scope they swear by for avionics?

Had the same fight with a GNS 430 data line. My meter showed good continuity, but the Rigol caught a voltage dip during bus chatter that lasted maybe 50 microseconds. That scope paid for itself that afternoon.

Oh man, I feel that. I used to be the guy saying my meter was all I needed, until I spent a whole day chasing a ghost in a nav light circuit. My trusty Fluke said the voltage was perfect, steady as a rock. Borrowed a buddy's old Tektronix and saw the 12V line was actually a jagged mess of noise every time the strobe fired. I looked pretty silly after that one.

Seriously? My old Fluke never let me down like that.
