My bokashi bin disaster last Thursday changed my whole setup
I was so sure my bokashi system was sealed tight, but I came home from a 12 hour shift to a smell that hit me in the hallway. The spigot on my 5 gallon bucket in the kitchen corner had a tiny crack I never saw. I had to clean fermented pickle juice off the floor at 3 AM. Has anyone in a studio apartment found a truly leak proof container for the pre-compost stage?

You said the smell never really goes away even with a perfect bucket. What were you using to drain the liquid, because a lot of those spigots are just bad. Honestly I wonder if the problem is the gear and not the space.

Honestly why are we even doing this in a studio apartment? The whole point of bokashi is to have outdoor space to bury the stuff. Tbh that pickle juice leak is just a sign. I tried it last year and the smell never really goes away, even with a perfect bucket. You're gonna spend more time and money trying to find a magic container than you'll ever get back in compost for your one plant. Ngl it's just not a good fit for tiny spaces.

My buddy's apartment smelled like a science project for months after his bokashi bucket failed.
