Overheard a new guy call a torque wrench a 'clicky stick' yesterday
Had to walk away before I laughed in his face, but honestly 'clicky stick' is way easier to remember than saying 'torque wrench' for someone fresh out of school. How do you break the ice with newbies without making them feel dumb?

Every profession has its own made up vocabulary that sounds ridiculous to outsiders, just listen to how doctors talk about body parts or mechanics describe car problems. Clicky stick is actually pretty perfect because it describes exactly what the tool does and what sound it makes when you hit the right torque. Breaking the ice is easy if you just use their own words back to them for a bit, nobody likes the guy who acts like a dictionary with a wrench.

Ha yeah I've definitely called things "the clicky thing" way too often to be trusted with tools.
