inZion trip next week and I'm torn on guided tours vs going solo
Ever tried that split approach yourself? My first time with something like that, I did the guided part and was so nervous I forgot half the steps. Then when I went solo, I spent most of the time just trying to remember what the guide said. Ended up going back more than going forward. Kind of a mess, but hey, at least I didn't fall off a cliff or anything. Guess that's the 'panic' part for a reason.

inThe coral at my go-to spot has completely bleached and it's heartbreaking
From my time with rescue groups, putting up shade cloths fast over reefs can cut bleaching by half during heat spikes. We do it from boats when we see hot spots on maps. It's a temporary fix, but it keeps coral alive while we work on climate change. Showing local leaders the proof often gets them to help.

Mocked my nephew for watching them. Now I'm the one sending him links to new channels.

inWhy I stopped telling my dad to just cheer up
That shift in understanding is huge. Clinical depression often comes with physical stuff like zero energy or messed up sleep, so telling someone to cheer up is like telling a person with the flu to just stop coughing. Instead of big gestures, try low-pressure offers for specific, small things. You could ask if he wants company on a quiet walk, or if you could grab his groceries while you're getting your own. It shows you see the struggle without making him feel managed.

inPerfecting my own seitan from scratch convinced me that pre-made versions are a culinary crutch.
12 minutes with a dough hook, that's what did it for me. Let it rest wrapped tight for an hour before simmering. The gluten needs that develop time without overworking.
