Zion trip next week and I'm torn on guided tours vs going solo

I have three full days to explore. Which option lets you see more without rushing?

Split the difference: guided panic, then go solo half the time.

Ever tried that split approach yourself? My first time with something like that, I did the guided part and was so nervous I forgot half the steps. Then when I went solo, I spent most of the time just trying to remember what the guide said. Ended up going back more than going forward. Kind of a mess, but hey, at least I didn't fall off a cliff or anything. Guess that's the 'panic' part for a reason.
