Our community board's park map updates have sparked a quiet debate
I've been watching the bulletin board at our local grocery store, where the park service used to post updated trail maps every season. Honestly, this year they switched to a QR code linking to a digital version, and the physical copies are gone. Tbh, it's made me think about how access to park information is changing, especially for older hikers or those without smartphones. Ngl, while it's efficient, I worry we're losing a tangible connection to the planning process that made trips more intentional. It feels like a small but significant shift in how we engage with our natural spaces before even setting foot in them.

The ranger station actually keeps printed maps behind the counter if you ask.

They actually make you ask for a map? (how retro) I'm floored.

Knowing me, I'd probably forget to ask for the printed map and end up lost anyway.
