Why I don't buy into the hype around bamboo workout gear

Lots of folks online say switching to bamboo equipment is a must for eco-friendly workouts. I've been using my basic rubber mat and metal weights for over five years with no issues. Making new bamboo stuff still cuts down trees and uses energy in production. Keeping my old gear in use feels way more sustainable to me.

Most yoga mats can handle a decade of use if you don't abuse them. @nora_wood43 is onto something, since the real win is just not buying more stuff. All that new bamboo still needs to be shipped and packaged, which isn't exactly zero waste.

Honestly that's a solid point about just using what you already have. Seen so many ads pushing bamboo yoga mats like they save the planet, but my old one still works fine. Feels like a lot of new "eco" stuff is just for people to buy more things. Tbh keeping your same weights out of a landfill is probably the greenest choice anyway.

Hey @nora_wood43, isn't it funny how "green" products just give us an excuse to shop? Your old mat doing its job is way better for the planet.
