TIL a faster way to clean rifle bores from the lead smith

He showed me a trick with a patch and a specific brushing technique. It removes fouling without damaging the rifling. I used it on several customer guns and it saved me hours. Passing it on in case it helps others.

Wait, is this the trick where you fold the patch around the brush? Because I tried that once and ended up with a patch stuck so deep I almost cried. I mean, @kevin_bailey makes it sound easy, but my first attempt was a total mess. Maybe it's just me but I always find the simple-sounding stuff needs like, a secret handshake to get right. I'm glad it works for you guys, I'll probably just stick to my slow way and avoid another patch rescue mission.

Honestly always thought those fancy bore cleaning tricks were just for show until trying this one. Watched the lead smith do his thing and figured it was overhyped, but man was I wrong. Seeing how fast it pulls fouling without any scrub damage totally flipped my view. That specific patch and brush method actually works way better than my old routine.

Man, my buddy Dave said the exact same thing last season. He'd always make fun of those detailed cleaning tutorials, calling them a waste of time. Then he saw some old timer at the range use that wet patch method with a bronze brush. Dave tried it on his hunting rifle that always grouped weird when dirty. He called me all amazed because it looked brand new after two passes. Totally changed how he takes care of his guns now.
