My kid's teacher said the playground gravel was 'just rocks'

She was pointing at the mix of granite and quartzite pieces, but it made me realize how many people walk over geology every day without seeing it. Has anyone else had a moment where you had to point out the actual rock types in something totally normal?

Sam Anderson has a point about sedimentary rocks being easier. Just focus on the basics like rock types for a better grade next time. You can turn that D around with some simple flash cards.
