Just realized my buddy was right about adding a drop of glycerin
He swore it would smooth out my scratchy iron gall mix, and after a month of ignoring him, I tried it last night and the flow is perfect. Anyone have a good source for pure vegetable glycerin that won't break the bank?

Glycerin is a game changer for stubborn inks. I get mine from the baking section at the craft store.

I saw a fountain pen blog that recommended a 10% glycerin to 90% water mix for cleaning. It really does cut through dried ink in a converter like nothing else. I keep a little bottle of the mix next to my pen case now. The stuff from the cake decorating aisle is perfect because it's already food grade and pure.
