I thought those fancy glass mixing vials were a must-have, but they cost me $50 for a set that broke in a week.
I bought a set of three from a pen show vendor, convinced they'd make my ink mixing look professional. The first one cracked when I was cleaning it with warm water, and the second chipped on the rim just from tapping it on my desk. For the price, I expected them to handle basic use. Now I just use clean plastic sample vials from Goulet Pens, which cost about a dollar each and don't shatter. Has anyone found a middle ground, like a durable but not crazy expensive glass container for mixing?

Wait, they cracked from warm water? That's crazy. I've used cheap lab glass from the kitchen store for years and never had that happen. It sounds like the glass they sold you was really bad quality, maybe with a flaw or way too thin. Spending that much for something that breaks from normal use is a total rip off. Your plastic vial idea is smart, I might just stick with that too.

Nah, I've had good glass crack from temp shock too.
