Trying to find the right door latch for my '96 F-150 took me three whole weekends.

The old one was shot, so I figured it was a simple parts store trip. First one I bought was for the wrong side, even though the box said driver's. Second one fit, but the actuator rod was about an inch too short. Ended up having to go to a salvage yard over in Bakersfield and pull one off a wreck myself. The whole thing should have been a two-hour job. Anyone else have a parts hunt turn into a month-long project?

Parts catalogs are still wrong half the time, even online. The diagrams never match what's actually in your truck.

My 2005 Silverado taught me to cross-check part numbers with the actual service manual. The online diagrams are often for a different model year or trim package. I just pull the part first now and match it visually before I order anything.
