Vent: I used to think wire cutters were just for the heavy stuff until a $300 bouquet for a wedding in Portland taught me otherwise.

Honestly, I was using my old kitchen shears for everything, even thick rose stems, until I snapped three 'Black Baccara' roses right before delivery and had to panic-buy replacements from a competitor across town. Has anyone else had a tool fail them at the worst possible moment?

Black Baccara" roses are the worst for that... you need proper bypass pruners.

Yeah, james661 is right, you really do need the good ones for those.
