Tried to fix my old iPod Classic with a new battery, now it just shows a sad folder icon.

Yeah, listen to @paul_webb45. That ribbon cable is super easy to nudge loose. You gotta open it back up and push the little connector in until it clicks. If that doesn't work, the drive itself might have finally died, which is a real bummer.

That sad folder icon usually means the hard drive can't be found. You might have knocked the drive cable loose when swapping the battery. Open it back up and reseat that thin ribbon cable really carefully.
