Can we talk about tripods at the community market?
I find that handheld shots there tell a truer story.

That point about handheld shots telling a truer story... it's spot on. I saw @elizabeth_gonzalez's story about her friend missing the kid getting a sample... same thing happened to me once. I used to bring a tripod to these markets but learned the hard way. You need to be ready to move, to catch those quick moments between people. Now I just keep my camera steady with my hands and shoot from the hip sometimes. The footage might shake a bit, but it feels alive... like you're really there.

My friend brought a tripod to the farmers market last month. He set it up for a wide shot of the cheese stand. Completely missed the vendor handing a free sample to a little kid. That was the whole moment. His footage looked nice but dead. The real stuff happens too fast for a stand.

Honestly that "real stuff happens too fast for a stand" line is so true. My buddy was filming his niece's birthday with a big setup on a tripod. He was getting the perfect shot of the cake, but totally missed her little brother sneaking up and blowing out the candles first. The planned video was pretty, but the real laugh was gone.
