My big batch of kimchi in the 5-gallon crock bubbled over and ruined my kitchen floor
It happened two nights ago when I got home late from work. I guess the fermentation kicked into high gear and the airlock couldn't handle it, so brine and chili paste went everywhere. My whole kitchen smelled like garlic and regret. Anyone know a good way to clean red pepper stains off linoleum?

Seriously, a five gallon crock? That's an insane amount of kimchi for a home kitchen. In my experience, that size is asking for trouble unless you have a dedicated fermentation space, like a basement or garage. The real issue might be overfilling the vessel before the active fermentation phase even starts.
