Can we talk about spending $60 on a fancy pH meter for my kraut setup

It burned me because the cheap probe drifted after two batches, giving me a false sense of security. Anyone have a reliable brand they actually trust for long-term use?

My old Hanna meter did the exact same thing, it was so frustrating. I finally bit the bullet and got an Apera Instruments PH60. It's been solid for over a year now with regular calibration. The replaceable probe tip is a game changer.

Actually, the replaceable tip is nice but it's not the main reason Apera meters last longer. The real difference is the double junction electrode design. It stops the reference solution from getting clogged up as fast. That's what usually kills those cheaper Hanna pens so quickly, right?
