I tried using my kid's glitter glue to mark trade routes on my parchment map and it's weirdly perfect.
The glue dries clear but leaves a faint, raised line that catches the light just right, and now my 'Silk Road of the North' actually looks like it's carrying something shiny, so has anyone else found a totally wrong art supply that works for a specific map detail?

Actually that sounds like a terrible idea. Glitter glue is made for kids, not for preserving maps. That stuff is going to get sticky again in humid weather and ruin your whole project. Proper map makers use archival inks for a reason.

Oh wow. @the_vera is totally right about the glitter glue (which is a shame, because it would look cool). That stuff never really dries for good. I tried using some on a picture frame once and it picked up every piece of dust and cat hair in the house. It became a fuzzy, sticky mess by summer. Archival stuff might be boring, but it actually lasts.
