Seeing more estheticians ditch the spa for home studios
I've been at my spa job for a while, and lately, a bunch of my coworkers have left to run their own studios from home. They talk about loving the control over their schedule and picking their clients. But handling all the business side alone sounds kinda stressful, like with taxes and marketing. I'm low-key thinking about making the jump too, but it's a big move. What's your experience with this, folks?

My local shopping strip has three empty storefronts now where there used to be a tailor, a nail tech, and a dog groomer. All of them operate from their houses or garages now. I see the same thing with personal trainers and music teachers. It feels like a whole wave of skilled people are deciding the high rent and rigid hours just aren't worth it anymore. They'd rather deal with the paperwork and have the freedom. Your field seems to be part of that same big shift.

Like you said about high rent, a friend's bakery closed because of it. Now she runs it from her kitchen and loves the freedom.

Honestly the taxes and marketing stuff isn't as scary as it seems at first. Once you get a simple system going it's pretty easy to keep up with.
