I used to think all peels were basically the same until a client's skin reacted badly
For years, I'd use a 30% glycolic acid peel on almost everyone for a 'deep clean,' thinking stronger was better. Then, about six months ago, a regular client with what I thought was oily skin came in for her usual and had a really bad reaction, lots of redness and flaking that lasted over a week. It hit me that I was just treating skin types, not actually looking at her barrier health or current sensitivity. Now I start everyone with a much gentler mandelic acid formula first to see how they handle it. Has anyone else moved away from a one-size-fits-all peel approach?

Stronger was better" is still true for some clients though.

Yeah but most people just need something that works, not the strongest thing ever.
