Tried using a $15 hot air station from the flea market on a PS4 HDMI port. The board lifted clean off.

Holy cow, a fifteen dollar flea market hot air station? That's basically a hair dryer with a fancy nozzle. Those things can't hold a steady temp to save their life, no wonder it lifted the whole pad. You need way more control for something that small and delicate. What was the board even sitting on when you tried it?
