Spent 6 hours troubleshooting a capacitor that wasn't even bad

I was working on a 2018 LG washer at a customer's house in Austin last Tuesday. The thing kept throwing a dE error code and I tore into the main control board for ages, checking every capacitor with my ESR meter. Turns out it was just a loose wire harness behind the display panel that I overlooked because I assumed the board was the issue. Has anyone else burned half a day on something this simple?

Sixteen wiggles of a harness connector later and I felt like a COMPLETE idiot. I was in the zone on that control board with my multimeter for so long that the customer brought me a Dr Pepper and asked if I needed a break. Should have started with the stupid cable that was barely hanging on instead of acting like a diagnostic GOD. We've all been there man.

Dr Pepper's kinda specific, right? Not a common energy drink for a customer to have on hand. You sure that wasn't YOUR Dr Pepper you forgot about and they just handed it back to you? I've definitely walked away from a machine, left my drink on top, and had a customer bring it to me like they saved my life. But hey, it's a good story either way. And you're absolutely right about the cable thing. We've all spent an hour chasing a ghost only to find out it was a loose wire on a connector we looked at five times. Makes you feel real stupid.
