The time my open house turned into a raccoon rescue

I was showing a bungalow in Mill Woods last Saturday when a family of raccoons crashed through the ceiling tiles in the basement during the kitchen tour. I ended up calling animal control and buying the buyers a coffee gift card to smooth things over. Has anyone else had wildlife interrupt a showing?

Once had a bat fly out of a laundry room mid showing and it was chaos.

Friend had one dive bomb her open house. Ran right into a mirror.

Wait, did the bat actually hit the mirror or did it just get confused by its own reflection? That's a whole different problem because now you're dealing with a territorial animal that thinks there's another bat in the room. They're not just flying into things randomly, they use echolocation and mirrors mess that up big time. I used to have a small cabin upstate, and a bat kept coming down the chimney every fall. It'd buzz the bathroom mirror like clockwork until we finally covered it with a towel while we trapped the little guy. Folks don't realize how bats rely on sound waves bouncing off surfaces to map out a space, and a mirror gives them a false echo that makes them think there's a clear path through the glass. So your friend's bat wasn't just being clumsy, it was probably fighting a phantom rival bat it heard in the mirror and got aggressive.
