Heads up about the north side view of that new St. Albert road project

I drove past the new St. Albert trail extension near Ray Gibbon Drive yesterday around 6pm. The way they've angled the sound barrier walls, you get a direct glare off the wet pavement right into the driver's seat of any car heading south. It's bad enough that I almost missed a pedestrian waiting at the crosswalk by the underpass. If you're thinking of buying one of those new townhomes going up along the west side, take a drive through at dusk first. The developer pushed for cheaper materials and it shows. Has anyone else noticed that blinding reflection or is it just me?

Oh man, that sounds terrible! I had a similar thing happen last winter on the Henday near the Anthony Henday bridge. The snow was all slushy and the sun hit it just right coming off the new barrier they put up. I literally had to pull over and wait for a minute because I couldn't see the lane lines at all. It's crazy how a cheap choice in materials or angle can create this huge hazard nobody caught during planning. Hope enough people complain about it before someone gets hurt.

Exactly, it's wild how one tiny design flaw can turn into a total blindspot.
