Tbh I lost a whole afternoon trying to save a buck with a cheap taping knife from a big box store.

Honestly it flexed so bad on a flat seam that I had to redo the whole wall and wasted about 4 hours of my day.

Oh man, my buddy had the same thing happen with a cheap spackle knife. The blade was so thin it just flopped over, left ridges everywhere. He ended up sanding for like two hours to fix one small patch.
