My cordless drywall gun died in the middle of a ceiling job

It was a DeWalt 20V that I've had for about three years, and it just quit halfway through boarding a garage in Bakersfield. I had to finish the last few sheets with my old corded gun, which was a real pain with the ladder setup. Has anyone else had a DeWalt tool konk out like that, and what did you replace it with?

That's a real bummer, especially on a ceiling. Did the battery still show a charge when it quit, or did it just stop making power to the motor?

Battery was totally dead. Just gave up mid-job.

It's the worst when tools fail at the exact wrong moment. Modern batteries seem designed to hide how little charge they have left until it's too late. You get a couple of warning blinks and then nothing, leaving you hanging. It feels like everything from phones to drills is built to keep us guessing. Makes you miss the old corded tools that just worked, doesn't it?
