Dropped my vape in a puddle at the park yesterday
Was hitting my Fury Edge near the pond and it slipped right out of my hand into 2 inches of muddy water. Pulled the battery out fast, let it dry in rice for 24 hours, and somehow it still works fine. Has anyone else had a close call with water damage?

Lucky you pulled the battery quick, that's usually the deciding factor. In my experience, the real killer isn't the water itself but the power still flowing when it gets inside. Seen it happen with phones, even an old Bluetooth speaker I dropped in the sink. Rice trick is hit or miss but sounds like you got the timing right, your mileage may vary on that one though.

The part people miss is how long the moisture sits trapped in tight spaces. I dropped a GPS unit in a puddle once and dried the outside perfect, but there was a tiny bit of water under the screen buttons that took three days to fully evaporate. By day two, the corrosion had already started eating the contact points under the rubber. Even if it works right after drying, that hidden dampness can short something a week later when you least expect it. Your battery pull saved it from the immediate zap, but I'd still leave that phone in a warm dry spot for a full week before trusting it long term.
