Three days of rain and my bilge pump gave out at 2 AM

Woke up to water sloshing over the floorboards and had to bail with a bucket for an hour before I found a replacement pump at the marina store, anyone else keep a spare bilge pump on hand or am I just unlucky?

Grabbed a bucket out of the anchor locker so fast I nearly fell overboard myself. Learned my lesson after a similar midnight saga a few years back, now I keep a spare pump in a dry bag zip tied to the battery compartment.

Funny how it's always the dumbest stuff that teaches you the biggest lessons. That's basically life in a nutshell though - you gotta almost fall in the water to finally tie the pump down. I swear half my "smart" solutions came straight from me being an idiot the first time around. Same way I learned to keep spare batteries in my truck after sitting on a dead battery in the middle of nowhere once.
