PSA: My old suction dredge on the Snake River used to need a full crew of four just to keep the intake clear.

We switched to a new model with a vibrating screen last year and now two people can handle it easily. The change saved us over 30 hours of labor on a single two-week job. Has anyone else made a switch that cut their crew size down?

Yeah, we had the same thing with our rock trucks. The old ones needed a spotter for every single load just to watch the blind spots. Got new ones with full camera systems all around the cab, and now one guy can do it all safely. It felt like we were just throwing bodies at a simple problem before.

Man, I always thought more hands on deck was just part of the job. Hearing stuff like this makes me realize how much dead weight old tech can create.

See this everywhere now, not just in heavy work. We accept so much pointless extra effort as normal. My building's old mail sorting needed three people for hours. New system does it with one person in twenty minutes. It's like we get used to the grind and stop asking if there's a smarter way to do things.
