TIL that using a 0.5mm mechanical pencil for sketching revisions instead of my usual 0.7mm stopped me from pressing so hard and made my markups way cleaner.

I was getting smudges and ghost lines on my vellum for weeks until I tried the finer lead on a whim, and now my eraser barely gets any use, so has anyone else found a simple tool switch that fixed a persistent drafting headache?

Honestly that makes so much sense. I was tearing through paper with a heavy hand on my own sketches for a while. Switching to a harder lead grade helped me a lot too, just a small change but it stops you from digging in so deep. Tbh it's wild how much a tiny tool swap can fix weeks of frustration.

Funny how the brain fights a new tool at first, like you're trying to prove you don't need it. It takes a few sketches to stop pressing like you still have the soft lead, then it just clicks. That mental shift is honestly the real fix, not just the pencil itself.
