That massive foundation plan I fought against turned out to be a lifesaver when the soil report came back.
I argued for a simpler slab design on a new warehouse project, but the lead drafter insisted on the full pier and grade beam layout, which added 40 hours to my schedule and seemed like overkill until the geotech survey showed pockets of unstable fill material exactly where those extra piers were placed.

Still a waste of time most days.

Ugh, totally. I get that feeling like you're just going through the motions. I'll put in a bunch of effort and then look back and wonder what it was even for. Feels like running on a treadmill, honestly.

That treadmill feeling is real, but it's not always a waste. Sometimes the effort itself builds something you don't see right away. The motion counts even when the view doesn't change.
