I thought lunch breaks were for slackers until my drawings got messy
I used to eat at my desk while working on CAD models to save time. After a month, I noticed my lines were getting sloppy and I kept missing small details. An old timer in the office saw me squinting and told me to try a real break. I reluctantly took his advice and started going to the park for twenty minutes. Coming back to my desk, I could spot errors way easier and work felt smoother. Now, I never skip my midday time away from the glow of the monitor. That bit of fresh air and movement makes all the difference for my afternoon focus.

More work than fixing all those sloppy lines?

Back in my community college art class, our teacher made us step away from our canvases every hour. We all grumbled about it, thinking it would slow us down, but honestly, after a few minutes of not staring at the same lines, everything looked different when we came back. It's not just about resting your eyes, it's like your mind needs to stop focusing so hard to actually see what's in front of you. I've found the same thing trying to balance the household budget or even helping my kids with their math, that five minute walk to the kitchen for a glass of water can make a tricky problem suddenly obvious. It's a simple trick that saves a lot of frustration in the long run.
