Found a dollar store silicone baking mat that actually works for greasy car parts

I snagged that $1.25 baking mat from the kitchen aisle to catch drips under an old transmission I was cleaning, and it held up better than the newspaper I usually use, has anyone else repurposed kitchen stuff for messy projects like this?

I read somewhere that those silicone mats handle up to 500 degrees so they basically work as cheap drip trays without melting. Makes sense they'd hold up under a greasy transmission.

Wait aren't those silicone mats rated for like 450-500 degrees though? @charlie_roberts87 I feel you on this because I've been using one under my truck whenever I change the oil and it's held up fine even with hot greasy fluid dripping on it. Honestly I had the same worry at first thinking it would melt or warp but after a few years it still looks brand new. It's way better than using cardboard that just soaks everything up and leaves a mess. Plus you can just wipe it down with a rag when you're done instead of throwing it away. I really appreciate you bringing that up because it's a solid cheap alternative to those expensive drip trays.
