Stop putting succulents in sealed jars, they rot in 3 weeks

I've seen three posts this week with cute corked bottles full of jade plants and I gotta say something before more of you lose $30 worth of plants. Succulents need air flow and dry soil, a sealed glass jar traps humidity like a greenhouse on steroids. Last month my neighbor tried it with a 2-inch echeveria from the Lowe's on Route 9 and it was mush by day 18, roots brown and stinking. If you want low-maintenance, use an open dish or add a 1-inch gravel layer and leave the lid off, anyone else dealt with this?
