Hot take: people overthink pet costumes way too much

I tried making my cat a little shark fin last Halloween using just felt and some craft glue. It lasted about 30 seconds before she freaked out and hid under the couch in my garage in Austin. Honest question, why does everyone think their pet needs some elaborate outfit when a simple bandana costs like 3 bucks and keeps everyone happy?

Oh man, I feel this so hard. The whole costume thing is more about the owner's fun than the pet's comfort, right? But here's something nobody talks about - a lot of those cheap fabric costumes are actually fire hazards if they're not made right, especially the ones with loose strings or cheap glue that can melt. I mean, I saw a video once of a dog's costume catching a spark from a candle at a party, and it's just not worth it for a cute photo. Maybe it's just me, but a bandana or a little collar bow is way safer and the pet actually gets to be a pet instead of a stressed-out prop.
