Overheard a contractor at the hardware store tell a new homeowner that 'paint is the cheapest upgrade you can buy.' It made me rethink my whole approach to my 1980s kitchen.

It's a classic case of good materials ruined by rushing the finish. People skip the prep work because it's boring, then act surprised when it peels. That shortcut mindset ruins way more than just cabinets.
