I waited months to seal my new tile grout, and it's holding up fine. The urgency seems misplaced.

Good to know, the pressure to seal immediately seems overkill.

Wait, have you ever had to scrub a permanent coffee stain out of unsealed grout? That pressure exists because grout is like a sponge right after it cures. If you spill anything dark on it in those first few days, it soaks right in. I'd rather seal it right away than spend hours later trying to fix a stain that won't come out.
